The funniest thing about those old Weird War comics is how often they used the twist “the gunner/vehicle operator/voice on the radio was dead all along!” And the best part is that the characters rarely came across a fresh corpse during the reveal; the guy was usually a clean but still intact skeleton, bleached white. Like, nobody in the armed forces is inspecting any of this shit
